Sweeney Todd- The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. The fact that this film is certified 18 made me think that there was going to be horror and gore beyond my liking. Indeed there is plenty of murder and some of the scenes could be quite harrowing to some viewers. However, despite the dark theme and terrifying, disturbing plot i throughly enjoyed it.Johnny Depp and the rest of the cast regularly burst into song softening the horror element of the film. Moreover, the cast, in particular Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, who only seems to appear in her husband's films, bounce off each other brilliantly. Tim Burton's interpretation of this violent musical is original with an emphasise of the fake nature of the violence providing humour and lessening the horror aspect of the film making the film more accessible to more viewers.Surprisingly, Johnny Depp is a good singer. He is able to put the same vitality into his singing that he does in to his acting. The rest of the cast were cast to perfection including an appearance from Alan Rickman. Obviously, the graphic nature of some of the violence makes this film an 18 and is only suitable for adults. This film would probably not enjoy this film because they are not effected by the 'Johnny Factor' at times it could be annoying how the cast are constantly singing. There is talk that this role may lead to a number of other singing parts from Johnny Depp. Ultimately, i thoroughly enjoyed this film and would certainly recommend seeing this film even if just to see Johnny Depp sing.
